COMPENSATION AND DAMAGES.
CLAIMS ON THE COUNCIL
REFERRED TO A SPECIAL COMMITTEE.
A number of claims for compensation or damages c-ame before the Council last evening. Messrs deLautour, Barker, Stock and Matthews wrote stating that Mr M. B. Mander had set back the frontage of part of section 71, 72 and 73 r. • •£’> Mhataupoko No. <j fronting Boinett Street in accordance with the Puohc Works Act, 1908, and he now claimed £IOO as compensation for the land dedicated.
Mr L. A. Tate claimed £l2 as damages for injuries sustained hy his wiie, through falling over a badly filled in trench in the Stout Street'footpatii on the night of- October 28. Me-ssis Rees Bios, and Bright wrote stating that they were authorised to n? C full settlement of Mr Henney's claim for material in regard to a septic tank. P' "through his solicitor, Mr Man in claimed £l3 from the Council as damages sustained to his motor- car as the result of insufficient '* bgnting of the trench made in connection uitli the tramway works at tlie intersection of Peel Street and Gladstone Boad. 'Hie claims were referred to a committee consisting of the Mavor, Crs Bright and Smith.
