THE “RINGING-IN” OF LADYLIKE,
SYDNEY SLANDER CASE,

In the turf slander case, Adkins v. Wren, the Court held that ringing-in was proved, the pony Ladylike being really True Love. Judgment was given for defendant in regard to slander, but having exceeded his powers in converting the pony to his own purpose and detaining her, the rilaintiff was awarded £5 on the conversion claim and £45 for detention of the pony, to be reduced to a shilling provided the pony was delivered in three days.
