A FLOOD OF SPEECH.
ANOTHER AMERICAN RECORD
The flow of “gab” at this session of Congress has surpassed all records. Never in the history of this legislative body lias such a volume of oratory been produced. The figures demonstrate that during the present session approximately 18,000,000 words have been turned into the Congressional Record. Tlio size of that volume has grown to 13,003 pages. The session lias continued 265 days. Other sessions have been longer and many have considered matters of move importance, but none lias shown such a reckless use of the printing power. That session existed 304 days and the record grew to 11,588 pages. The second session of the Fifty-third Cbngrfess, which enacted the NYilsonGorman Tariff Act, existed 2GS days, and the Record comprised 10,218 pages. The first session of the Fiftieth Congress continued for 321 days, blit the Record only covered 10,236 pages. What is known as the War Congress, the second session of the Fifty-fifth, lasted bub 215 days and the Record showed but 7569 pages.
