PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr H, Coyle has been appointed handicapper to the Tolago Bav Racing Club.

Dr. Cliesson, District Health Officer, is visiting Gisborne, and yesterday afternoon conferred with the Hospital Board regarding hospital and health matters. He will visit the Muriwai pa to-day, and will leave for the South to-morrow.

The Government has appointed Mr M. C. Barnett (District Manager of the Public Trust Office) to be Inspector for the Department. His new duties will commence on January 1, and Mr Barnett will make Wellington his headquarters. Mr Barnett has been 30 years in the Government service and lias held the post of District Manager at Christchurch for the past 12 years. Mr S. -4. Smytlie has been selected by the Government to succeed Mr Barnett in Christchurch. Mr Smythe lias been for the past 20 years in the head office in Wellington, and for the last few years lias been in charge of the largest section of work there, known as the Willis and Trusts Estates. Mr Smythe is expected to arrive in Christchurch about December 14, says a P.A. message from that city

The death occurred at Ormond on Sunday of Mrs Sarah Ann Cameron. The deceased lady, who enjoyed the respect of a wide circle of friends, arrived from the South on Wednesday last and was residing with Mrs A. McKenzie. She was in good spirits and was chatting good-heartedly when she suddenly collapsed and passed away, dying from hemorrhage of the brain. The late Mrs Cameron was born in Southland, and her husband, Mr Wm. Cameron, predeceased her some years ago. Of late Mrs Cameron had resided at Ashhurst, frequently visiting Gisborne to stay with her daughters, Mrs A. J. Cameron, Mrs D. P. Cameron, and Mrs “A. McKenzie. She also leaves another daughter, Mrs Fraser, of Ashhurst, and a son, Mr Donald Cameron, of Gisborne. Much sympathy will be extended to the relatives in their sad loss. The funeral will leave Mr A. McKenzie’s residence, Ormond, at 2 p.m. to-day for the Makaraka Cemetery.
