RIVAL WIRELESS SYSTEMS.
AN AWKWARD POSITION

At the Marconi inquiry Captain Charlton, an Admiralty wireless expert, gave evidence that the Marconi agreement of 1903 prevented the Admiralty communicating wireless secrets t-o the colonies. Since the Australian navy was not fitted with the Admiralty system, this was very awkward. Negotiations were proceeding to rescind clause 4. The Poulsen system had been tested and found undesirable for ships.
