RANGITIKEI J.C.’s SUMMER MEETING.
CONCLUDING DAY.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] MARTON, Dec. 12. The second day of .the Rangitikei Jockey Club’s summer meeting was held in beautiful weather. The course was hard and fast and the attendance was good. The totalisator for the two days put through £21,109, as against £14,819 last year. Results : Rangitoto Hack of 90 sovs, six furlongs.—Neale's Manakau 8.3 (F. C. Porter) i, Martin’s Alecto 7.5 2, Pitt’s Red Lupin 7.5 3. Also started: Lady Louisa 8.12, Jackpin 7.11, Missile 7.10. From a good start Manakau and Alecto went to the front and led throughout, winning by two lengths. Time 1.15.
Clifton Handicap of 110 sovs, seven furlongs.—Martin’s Mon Ami 8.0 (C. Emerson) 1, Buiek’s Rangiatua 7.12 (W. Bell) 2, Raynor’s Dearest 9.1 (B. Dceley) 3. Also started: Red Lupin 7.5. Red Lupin and Mon Ami led to tlie bend, where the former fell back last. Rangiatua was running well, but Mon Ami easily held her own, winning by two lengths, with Dearest half a length away. Time 1.28). Sandon Hurdles of 100 sovs, 1} miles.—H. Catberall’s Chief Marshal 9.10 (F. Flynn) 1, D. Limbrick’s Sleacombe 9.9 (Lyford) 2, W. Campbell’s Waiaio 9.5 (.J. De-eroy) 3. Also ran: .Bollin 10.8, Leolanter 10.0, Sandy Paul 9.5, Rend rock 9.0. At the home bend Chief Marshal and Leolanter were together, with Waiaio third in the straight. Chief Marshal, however, was too much for Waiaio and Sleaeombe by a late run got second place _ two lengths from tiio winner. Waiaio was two lengths away third, with Bollin last. Time 2.51. Ngatiapa Hack Hurdles of 95 sovs, 14- miles—W. Campbell’s Flingot 10.13 (J. Deercy) 1, Brice’s Whimper 9.3 (F. Meagher) 2, Smith’s Sunrose 9.0 (G. Caddy) 3. Also ran: Meahau 10.5, St. Felix 9.0, Trekker 9.0, Chief Officer 9.0. Flingot won by a neck, with •Sunrose half a length away third. Time 2.514. Greatt'ord Stakes, of 175 sovs., one mile and a distance.—Spratt’s Mcndip 5.3 (L. Wilson) 1, Atfield’s Bonnie Boy 7.8 (W. Bell) 2, Palmer’s Labor Day 8.2 (W. Ryan) 3. Also ran: Master Laddo 7.10, Ngatimaru 7.10, Royal Marine 7.3, Waiapaku 7.3, Goodwin Park 7.12, Otahu 7.1, Aloha 6.11. A good start was effected and passing the stand Aloha, Royal Marine, Master Laddo and Labor Day was the order. At the seven furlong post Waipahu got a break of several lengths and along the back was still leading with Mendip and Labor Day together. Rounding the bend Mendip took command with Bonnie Boy second and Labor Day losing her position. In an exciting run home Mendip won by half-a-length with Labor Day third half a length away. Time: 1.55|-. Killeymoon. of 90 sovs., one mile!— Eston’s Moutoa Girl 7.5 (0. McCarten) 1, Pitt’s Master Tupuhi ,7.5 (J*. O’Shea) 2, Ohallaron’s Arualie 7.6 (R. Berry) 3. Also ran: Kina 8.5, Tetikura 5.4, Eastwind 7.3, Parky 7.3, Bonfire 7.3. Won by a short length. Time:’ 1.42 4-. Raumai Welter, of 100 sovs.. seven furlongs.-—A. McManaway’s Rill 9.8 (A. OHiver) 1, Hopeful’s Muleteer 8.0 (13. Daelev) 2, Scally’s Asc-nlon 8.1 (A. McMullin) 3. Also ran: Kauroa 8.2, Allure 8.0. Sepoy 8.0, Whetumaruma 8.0. ' Whetnniaruma gc*T the worst of the start. Ascalon went to tlie front and was leading by a length at the four furlong post with Mule' teer and Rill in the places. Rounding the bend Muleteer closed on the leader and Rill also improved her position. Toe three were abreast coming down the straight, Rill winning by a long neck, with the third horse a length away. Time: 1.28}. Pukehou Scurry, of 80 sovs., five furlongs.—A. Alexander’s Patronale 8.10 (A. Olliver) 1, Hathaway’s Heather 7.12 (W. Bell) 2. Clay’s War’ Queen 8.5 (B. Deeley) 3. Also ran : Hamuranu 7.11, Lord Lupin 7.2, Hapingo 7.0, Fionncre 7.0, The Diver 7.0, Tamakoa 7.0, Ruapuhi 7.0. Won by a good length. Time: 1.4. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.
