The collection of native rater was again before the Cook County Council yesterday. when the Clerk to ihe Patea County Council wrote stating that in furtherance of the united efforts of County Councils to try nxl : have the law so amended as to n ake it workable and assured that native rates could be recovered (which was impossible under the existing law), he had to ask the Council to assist in the matter, not only by bringing it- before the Native Minister and their member, but lie thought, a means which would support their claim would be for him to frame statistics of rates, say, for the past five years, and with this end in view he asked them To supply him with the following information':—(l) Amount of rates struck during five years ended March 31, 1912: (2) amount of same actually received during that period: (3) cost of attempting to recover He would like the return earlv in January.
