In a letter to the hon. secretary nf tlie Wellington branch of the Navy League, Lieutenant Knox, late R.X.. writing from the Canal Zone Republic of Panama, says:—'"Arrived here after 12.000 miles’ trip through Magellan, Valparaiso, and Callao. Formed branches of the Navy League at Huenos Aires and Valparaiso. Have seen all the Canal (a marvel), and- been received by Colonel Goetlials, who made it, and by Colonel Gorgas. who swept up all the mosquitoes. Canal Zone is quite healthy for its 40,000 employees. The groat Culebra Chit— : greatest of all Canal problems, is nine miles long, 3ooft deep, and 1900 ft wide
