POUT A WANT I. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] PORT AWANTI; Dec. 21. The weather during the past week has keen line and warm ; this afternoon there seems to be a possibility of rain. Shipping.—The Ivalni from Picton landed a big consignment of chaff. This vessel took 30 bales of wool for sale at Napier. The Crete from Gisborne unloaded a general cargo comprising fruit, summer drinks, etc. The Koutunui from Gisborne brought •a consignment of grass-seed and iron. Wool. —The shearers are slacking off for Christinas. The rush of the wool season is now practically over and the greater part of the shearing is finisliod. There is still some to come in though.
General. —Service was held at Kahukina on Sunday afternoon by the Vicar, and at Port Awanui in the evening, a fair number attending each service. The preacher, in the course of Ids sermon, made fitting reference to the late Mr Warbrick’s sad death. Business is now brightening up and there seems good prospects for the Christmas trade.
