NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. •OPENED AT HASTINGS YESTERDAY. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] HASTINGS. Dec. 26. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association held its 27th annual championship meeting at Hastings to-day. The weather was splendid, and there was bright sunshine and no wind. ' The courts were in capital order, but very hard and fast. There were good entries, and a splendid attendance. The Englishmen will arrive on Monday. „ , Play opened with the New Zealand championships. Following are the results : Men’s Singles.—First round: H. W. Brown beat N. A. Duthie 6—3, 6—(l, Q 0; R. D.
