GISBORNE RIFLE GLUB

SHOOT AT MAKAURI

Advantage was taken of the holidays to organise a shoot at Makauri on Boxing Day. A large party assembled at the range and had an afternoon's sport under perfect weather conditions.

In the earlier stages the scoring war, somewhat erratic. This was only to l>c expected, for practically every man present had done no shooting for years. However, by the time the SCO yds. mound was reached there was a decided improvement all round. The men seemed to be getting more into their old stride and some really ,good totals were notched, at least one man putting on the possible. The Rifle Club may be looked upon as an established institution in the district and supporters may take heart that success is assured. A big order for rifles has already gone forward, every one of tha first consignment beiii'ir booked. The -executive is busy making up another requisition and outstanding members would do well to make sure that their names are with tha treasurer. There are fully five more mentiis of good .shooting weather ahead.

The. opening day will be fixed as soon as the rifles come along and an attractive season’s programme will be announced later and in connection with this some valuable prizes have already been promised.
