Out of 2S applicants from various New Zealand towns from Auckland to luvercarg... Mr Frank Foote, 8.A., B.Se., at present First Assistant at the Palmerston North District High School, has been appointed headmaster of the Gisborne High School, vice Mr A. R. Gotland, who recently resigned. Mr 'Foote, who hails originally from Dunedin, has had a very promising career and is well and highly recommended for the position which he is to occupy. Throughout a long connection with schools in many parts of the Dominion, Mr Foote has been characterised by the energy and faithfulness with which he pursues liis work, while the fact that lie takes a keen interest in the games and sports of bis pupils enables him to gain an insight into their capabilities both inside and outside the school. Mr Foote commenced his teaching career as a pupil teacher in 1890, and became a student in training at Dunedin in 1594. In 1897 he became headmaster of the Cardrona Public School and two years later entered upon secondary teaching, becoming second assistant and later special assistant in the newly-created College Street District High School at Palmerston North. In 1904 Mr Foote became first assistant at the Palmerston High School and he will resign this position to come to Gisborne. Mr. Foote is 38 years of age, and is married. Mr Foote has also had a large experience in technical school work. He will commence bis new. duties on the opening of the school in February. The High School Board reduced the applications to three, and Mr. Foote was invited to visit Gisborne. He arrived, on Saturday, and after a conference with the Board the appointment was announced. Mr. Foote returned to the South by the Monowai last evening.
