THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

HASTINGS, December 30
The Australasian Tennis Championships were continued at, Hastings to-day. The weather was perfect and there was a large attendance of people to see the English players. Five hundred new seats had to be provided and the meeting was a record for New Zealand. Grand play was witnessed throughout the day. Results:
Beamish (England) beat Fisher (N.Z.), 6—2, 6—l, 7 —5; Dixon and Parke (England) heat Ollivier and Goss (N.Z., 7 5, 6—3, 4—g, 6—l; Ollivier beat Peacock, 6—o, 66—3, 6—3; Goss beat Dixon, 7—5, 6—2, 13— 11; Wellwood and Waddington lost to Beamish and Lowe. 6—o, 6—2, 6—o. The semi-finals will be played to-morrow and the finals on Wednesday morning. The Governor has arrived.
