FIGHTING IN TIBET.
• - THE SIEGE OF BATANG. [UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION COPYBIGHT] PEKING, Jan. 2. Advices from Qhengtu state that Tibetans, profiting by the reluctance of Chinese troops to follow their officers over little-known and difficult territory, attacked them near Hsiangchang. Three hundred Chinese were killed and six machine guns were lost. The siege of Batang continued for a month.
The garrison were relieved after fierce fighting, and the district was cleared of Tibetans.
