MATAWAI PUBLIC HALL.

ANNUAL MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] MATAWAI, Jan. 5. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Matawai Public Hall was held on Saturday evening and was largely attended despite the unpleasantness of the weather. Mr Korte occupied the chair. The balance sliest, which was read and adopted, showed a satisfactory credit balance of £3O 13s lOd for the year, this being due to the able manner in which the chairman, and secretary (Messrs J. B. Clark and Mr McKenzie) had carried out their respective duties.

The shareholders decided to invest part of the funds in building a stage for the hall and by erecting a supperroom 30ft by 15ft at one side and it was also decided to procure some new skates.

Mr J. B. Clark was re-elected chairman and Mr M. McKenzie secretary.
