MUNICIPAL MUSIC.
(.TO THE EDITOR.! Sir,—Wh vis Gisborne so neglected in the matter of out-door musical performances? It is not, I am certain, that the general public are unappreciative, as witness the large crowds which assembled at the various Band rotundas to listen to the excellent programmes played occasionally by the City Band last summer. The Municipal authorities, I am told, are piv.payed to subsidise similar performances. Now, I would offer the suggestion to the several professional orchestras engaged in Gisborne at the pre-. sent time'that they should cbmhine and form a Professional Orchestral Band to perform on Sundays. That' the public would appreciate the innovation is easily guessed, and if the suggestion is taken up by those interested, I can safely promise them a grateful recompense for the sacrifice of their time and talents. Sincerely hoping that the matter will he taken up as being of such importance as to admit of no delay.—l am, etc., LOVER. OF MUSIC.
