PERSONAL NOTES
The funeral of the late Mr J. T. Evans took place yesterday, there being a long precession of mourners. A large number of the oldest residents of the Bay were in A cable from the Press Asociation agent at Brisbane states that- Mr Wade (leader of the N.S. Wales Opposition) has returned benefitted in health by ! his trip to the East. A Sydney P.A. cable states that Mr William Cosgrove, aged 20, the son of-the owner of Waterview Estate, Grafton, was killed instantaneously by lightning. Mr and Mrs J. Edwards, Te Hapara, will leave for the South by the Monowai on Sunday to join the Ulinraroa at Wellington,, en route for - Sydney, where they will spend an extended holiday. Constable Doyle, whose death o:Curred at Palmerston North this week, was a brother to Constable Doyle who -is stationed at Te Kara'ka-, and much sympathy is being felt for the popular officer in his dereavement. Hon. W. Fraser, Minister for Public Works, will leave Wellington early .next week for the south. He will visit Queenstown and his own electorate, after an absence of a year; then proceed to Invercargill, the Catlins district and Ida Valley, to discuss irrigation questions with farmers of the locality. Subsequently, after his return to Wellington, the Minister will ■ visit Gisborne, where he stays a day or two. before proceeding to Motu to’inspect the East Coast railway. Mr Fraser wi 11 then go on to Auckland, Whangarei, Kawakawa, Kaikohe end Dargaville.
