AUCKLAND ST. HELENS.
THE INQUIRY RESUMED. " [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 7. At the St. Helen’s Home inquiry, evidence was taken to-day in regard to the case of Mrs Stevenson, _ who after leaving St. Helen’s, was admitted to the general hospital, subsequently dying in a mental hospital. Several witnesses were called.
In the course of - her evidence, Miss McLean, assistant inspector of hospitals, stated that it had been in contemplation for some time to add a third trained nurse to the staff at St.
•mtasazzzisx Helen’s Home. The number of complaints made by patients or their friends regarding the conduct of the Horne hacjj been . exceedingly small, and an investigation in each instance revealed that -there was no serious cause for complaint. The present site was selected with a view to being most advantageous for patients inside the hospital, and for those likely to be patients. The fact of the hospital being so close to cars Was in some ways a drawback, but this was compensated for by the fact of its consequent handiness. '
