THE WESTPORT EARTHQUAKES.
MORE DISTURBANCES YESTERDAY. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] WESTPORT, Feb. 25. From 8 yesterday morning till 11.30 last night the community was undisturbed by earth shocks. At the latter time there was a repetition of the dull boom, with little vibration. At 12.17 a.m. there was another cannonade, and very pronounced shaking. No damage was done by any of the numerous shocks since the lively coufde of minutes at 12.36 on Saturday. The origin of the disturbances is plainly to thd south-west of Westport. It must be relatively close, too, as no damage has been done at Greymouth on the one side, and only the initial shock was felt at Karamea on the other side. The colliers describe Saturday’s experience as “pandemonium let loose.” .Women and children throughout the district are unnerved. SHOOK IN GISBORNE LAST NIGHT. A pronounced shock of earthquake, lasting for'about three seconds, was felt in Gisborne at 9.10 o’clock last night.
