[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT)
(Received Feb. 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 25. MYells defeated Mehegan on points. Wells scaled 9st fijlbs, and Mehegan 9st- 9|lbs. Wells was a slight favorite. The fight was very unsatisfactory up to the fifteenth round, consisting mostly of clinching. Wells scored freely on every chance, and frequently got in straight lefts in open fighting, to whicli Mehegan did not reply. In the sixteenth round Mehegan began to box, and, being the stronger, scored freely up to the last round, but was unable to make up the points lost earlier. He finished strong, Wells apparently tiring fast. The referee’s decision was cheered, though there was some dissent.
