PERSONAL NOTES.
The Bishop of Melanesia will arrive in Gisborne this morning.
Dr. Pomare, representative of the Native race in the Cabinet, will arrive in Gisborne this morning and will be present at the liui at Manutuke this aifternoon. At Rakauroa yesterday Hon. W. H. Herries stated that Hon. W. Fraser would visit the Poverty Bay district in about ten days’ time.
This morning Hon. W. H. Herries will be conducted by the Mayor (Mr W. Pettie) on a visit of inspection of the power liouse and possibly the Hospital will be visited if time. permits. Later Mr Herries will proceed to the hui tit Manutuke. The Ministerial Party will leave for Auckland via Tokomaru to-morrow.
The official representative of the British Antarctic Expedition, Christchurch, wrote to the. Borough Council last evening acknowledging the receipt of a letter from this Council forwarding copy of a resolution passed at a previous meeting in connection with the death of Captain Scott and those who perished with him on the return from the South Pole, and promising to convey the message to the bereaved ones.
