She is due i next Thursday, and will sail on the 15th ! inst. for Napier, arrives there on the 1 16th, sails on. the 18th, and arrives at ! Wellington on the 20th instant. The \ Waimana will leave Wellington on the 25th for Auckland, is due there on the 1
27th, and sails on the 29th for London. The Takapuna arrived, yesterday morning from Napier "and left in the evenin gon the return trip. She leaves Napier to-night for Gisborne. The Hippie, which arrived early yesterday morning with general cargo, sails at 4 o’clock this morning with a large party of Natives for the Coast. The Union Co.’s Maitai is due from the South this morning. The last launch leaves the wharf at 10 a.m. The Monowai leaves Auckland this afternoon for Gisborne, and is due early to-morrow afternoon. Mr S. B. Page, second officer of the Takapuna, has exchanged places with Mr 11. B. Hodges, acting second of the Tarawera. Messrs Kempthorne, Prosser and Co. have chartered a steamer to load superphosphates at Christmas Island for Auckland. The barque Triton is due early in April with a further shipment. Included in the Union Company's latest timetable is the 1300 ton steamer Kamo, which is now on the stocks at Home. . , Under the auspices of the United lyser line a steamer not yet named is to load at New York on the 31st inst. for New Zealand and Australian ports. According to the March publication ol the Union Comvan.v’s handbook their Meet consists of 70 vessels, with a gross tonnage of 198,129 tons. . H.M.S. Pyramus ,the new drill ship on the New Zealand station, is expected about the middle of April. „ ~ The Rosamond brought the following cargo for Gisborne on Thursday: 100 cases benzine, 200 sacks coal, 300 asphalt clocks, 60 bags flour, 60 shooks, 3012 oags cement, 10,919 ft timber. 160 bags sugar, 140 cases dried milk, 96 sacks ryegrass, 380 'sacks oats, 5 sacks seed, and transhipments ex Tyrone, Westmeath, Star ot Ireland, Indralema, and Wanaka.
PAPAROA ARRIVES HOME. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Paparoa, which left Wellington on the 18th January last for London, via Monte Video, arrived at her destination last Monday.
KAIPARA LEAVES LONDON. Advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company stating that the Kaipara left London last Sunday for Auckland and Wellington. AN ELEVEN-STORIED LINER. The Hamburg-American Company’s new liner lmperator is to sail on the 7tli May on her maiden voyage to New York. She will be the largest passenger ship afloat, and is an 11-storicd floating palace. Her dimensions are —Length, 720 ft; displacement, 50,000 tons; and her engines are 80,000 h.p. She will accommodate 5000 persons, and among other luxuries she will have three electric lifts, a winter garden, several summer houses, a theatre, a gymnasium, a restaurant a la Ritz, a ballroom, a nursery, a swimming bath, a telephone bureau, and a cottage cafe. The principal swimming bath is a copy of one unearthed at Pompeii, with mosaic pavements that are replicas of those discovered at Treves. The dining saloon, in Louis XVI. style, is 300 ft lone-. This liner de luxe will be hard to beat, though the Cunard Company will trv to do it with the Aquitania (50,000 tons) and the White Star Line with the Gigantic (52,000 tons). TELEGRAPHIC.
