Mr. McGow-en confirmed the rumor that -he intends to retire from the leadership of the Labor party and the present Parliament. He declared that the responsibilities attaching to the office had weighed very heavily lately, and in justice to himself he feels it necessary to. relinquish office. This is not to say that he is retiring from politics altogether, but he will never again accept office. Mr McGowen denied the rumor that he ie resigning the Premiership for the Agent-Generalship.
