NOTES.
The Takapuna arrives from Napier this morning, and is due to sail at 8 -o'clock this eevning on the return trip'. The Maitai left Auckland at 9.30 last night, and is due here at 7.30 this-even-ing. The launch is timed to leave at 7 o’clock. The Mokoia is due from the south tomorrow morning, and on completion of discharge will continue her- trip .north. She will be tendered by one launch at 6 a.m. The Koutunui arrived yesterday morning from the Coast. The steamers Opouri. and-Holmdale are loading timber on the West Coast for Gisborne. The Canterbury S.S. Co’s Petone arrived from Southern ports yesterday morning. She brought *'a large cargo,, of, produce to Gisborne, comprising 265 sacks pollard, 32 oatmeal, 11 do. grass-seed, 90 do. bran, 55 do. wheat, 2250 do. flour, and 1137 do. oats. After discharging at, the.. Kaiti wharf, the vessel moved across to. the town wharf opposite the. stockyards, and will load sheep for Lyttelton. ■ ' Although minus a propeller, the Union Co’s Makura, due a't Auckland from San Francisco this morning, has inaCdb an excellent run, being only : a' few hours behind scheduled time: t'he.-'vcssel .is due to leave Auckland for' Sydney 'to-night. The Ihumata, due this morning with coal from Newcastle, on completing her discharge at this port will sail for Kaipara to. load timber for Sydney. Mr P. B. Cooke, who has been actingmanager of the Union Company’s Earotonga office during the absence of Mr Morrison, has rejoined the Talune as purser. Captain A.. Dunsford will take the Victoria from Auckland to Syney, and on arrival there will hand the vessel over to Captain 11. J. Kell. Mr B. A. Pyfe, chief engineer of the Wimmera, has gone ashore at Sydney on holiday leave. Mr W. Knox is acting chief during his absence, and the second and third engineers have been promoted a step, while Mr A. E. Kendall has joined the Wimmera as fourth engineer. The steamer Wakefield, 4072 tons, has been chartered to load case oil at New York for New Zealand ports. The Wakefield is the steamer which was specially engaged and fitted to search for the illfated Waratah when that vessel went missing nearly four years ago.
NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY CHANGES IN TIME-TABLE.
There are several ohanges announced in connection with the outward timetable from London of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s boats. The Eimutaka, which was to have loaded at New York, will now load at London, and is to. leave for New Zealand on the 13th March. The Paparoa* which was to have sailed for Auckland' and Wellington on the 4th May, will take the place of the Turakina, and will sail for Wellington and Lyttelton on the 10th April. The Huruuui will take the Paparoa’s original run, and is due here at the en of June. The Otaki’s departure for Dunedin, Lyttelton. and the Bluff, has been fixed for the 20th April, instead of the 4th April, while the Orari is to sail from London on the 30th May for,.
