NOTES. The Takapuna sailed as usual last night, and is due again to-morrow morning. The Kowhai is uow being repaired, and is to sail from Dunedin on Tuesday on her usual run. The Karamu is due to-morrow with coal from Westport. The Wanaka is loading at Oamark and Timaru to-day for Auckland via ports. Unless sufficient inducement offers, the vessel will not call at Gisborne. The Union Co’s Mokoia leaves Auckland at 4 o’clock this afternoon on her southward run, and should arrive here tomorrow afternoon. The Ripple was delayed at Napier through having to land a large cargo there, and did not arrive until noon yesterday. She will discharge and leave for the south this morning. The Kiritona arrived from the Coast yesterday and loaded chaff and general cargo for Te Araroa and Port Awanui. She leaves at noon to-day. The Maoriland Shipping Go’s Holmdale was due to leave llokianga on Thursday with a full cargo of timber for Gisborne. On leaving here the vessel loads at Hokianga again for Wellington. According to the Christchurch ‘‘Press’’ it is rumored that negotiations are in progress for the purchase of the Westport Coal Company’s Canopus by the Union Company. The Canopus, which was at Gisborne recently, is a fast working collier of 1337 tons gross register, and lias a carrying capacity of lbso tons. Fisher, Messrs Hope, Richmond, Greig, Fisher, Hutchinson. A. Stenner, F. Stenner, W. Stenner, and Tliornley. The last launch leaves the wharf at 10 o’clock. ROYAL NAVAL RESERVISTS. Captain G. G. Smith, Royal Naval Registrar for New Zealand, has been advised by Captain Stopford, of 11.M.5. Pyramus, that the drill ship is expected to he in New Zealand waters about April 5. The Pyramus will not remain any length of time at one port, so that Royal Naval Reservists must be prepared to go to sea in the drill ship if necessary. TONGARIRO FOR DUNEDIN. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Tongariro is due at Dunedin on March 26 from London direct. In addition to a full cargo, she is bringing about 300 immigrants, who will bo distributed on arrival as follows :—Wellington, 115; Auckland, 82; Lyttelton, 33; Gisborne, 12; Greymoutli. 19; Westport, 13; Port Chalmers, 11; Napier, 15; New Plymouth, 8; and Timaru, "2.
