PERSONAL NOTES.
Detective McLeod arrived at Gisborne yesterday to take up his duties as plain clothes representative with the local Police Force. Detective McLeod, who has been stationed at Dunedin, Tiinaru and Christchurch as detective in turn, is an exceedingly capable and popular officer.
Tlie Government Audit- Inspector (Mr Youughusband) arrived by the s.s. Takapuna yesterday morning, and at once commenced the auditing or the Harbor Board accounts. Mr Younghusband proceeds to Auckland on Saturday, and will return later to complete auditing work in this district.
A pleasing function took place at the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand yesterday, when Mr Clias. Hy. Morgan was made the recipient of' a presentation in honor of his approaching marriage. The gift took the form of a handsome set cf ivory carvers. Mr Pyke (the manager), on behalf of the staff, wished Mr Morgan and the future Mrs Morgan long life and much happiness. He mentioned .incidentally that this was the first occasion in the nineteen years he had been manage rat Gisborne that- the staff had occasion to meet for such a purpose. Other members of the staff had before them an example which they might with advantage follow—(laughter). Mr Morgan made a very neat and appropriate reply.
