TOKOMARU NOTES. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT! TOKOMARU BAY, April 9. The highest sea known hero has been running since Monday, but is now going down. Damage has been done to the beach road, over which the sea broke nearly the whole length. Half of the old wharf was carried away and broken up. Typhoid all along tho coast. Thirtythree cases were reported to the Council, and seven eases are in hospital. A fever camp has been opened by the Council at Mangnhnnca, near I’uparon, with 12 cases. Owing to the prevalence of fevers the Tnparoa and Tokomaru hospital balls have been postponed. A majority of the fever cases arereturned visitors to tho Manutuke hui. The long spell of drought bar broken up at last and the weather is very cold. Richardson’s contract is finished. This, combined with other contracts finished, gives almost a continuous metalled road from tho county (Waiapu) boundary to Waipiro, and from there on many of the ‘worst places are also metalled. There should be very little outcry about tho roads this winter in this district. The first'piles oil the Waiapu bridge are to be driven on the 26th hist. Local cricketers are looking forward to the visit of ’a cricket team . -
