Wellington, April 20. About 2000 people, including a number of men from HALS. New Zealand attended the first motor cycle races held here. The meeting took place on the Trentham racecourse yesterday in fine but cold weather and some good racing was witnessed. Two accidents occurred, but the results were not serious. At the end of the fifteen mile race Le Compt-e, who finished second, was slowing down when the throttle of his machine opened accidentally and the cycle skidded 100yds. Le Compte was thrown off on his head striking the ground heavily. He suffered slight concussion of the brain, but recovered later. In the second heat of the five mile event F. Barker fell and injured a shoulder slightly. Results of races are:

Time: 5.1, or 59.01 miles per hour. : Open Handicap, 10 miles.—R. S. Bender 40sec. 1, A. Anderson lOOsec. 2, H. Gastein 40sec. 3. Time: 10.36 3-5 or 57.14 miles peer hour. o]>en Handicap, nfteen miles.—G. H. Tomline 120 sec. 1, A. J. Le Compte 60sec. 2, J. L. Brathwaite 90secs. 3. Thirteen started.
