LOCAL PRODUCE SALES. Messrs E. S. Malcolm and Co. report the following prices at their auction sale on Saturday:—Roosters Is 6d to 2s lOd; cockerels Is jJd to Is 5d ; hens Is 4d to 2s lOd; eggs 3s doz. ; quinces £d. ib.; apples Id to 2d; tomatoes 4d; oranges 8s 6d per ease; mushrooms 3d per lb; beetroot Is 6d per doz; onions 10s 6d per cental bag; potatoes, southern, 9s per cvvt; comb honey 4s doz.; small vegetables as usual. The usual furniture sale was also held, the prices obtained being very satisfactory. Mr Geo. Miller reports that the following prices were obtained at his auction sale on Saturday:—Fowls Is lid to 2s 3d; roosters 2s 6d; turkeys 8s 6d; chicks Is Id; ducks 2s 3d to 2s (3d; onions 1-id per lb; kumaras lsd and 2d; citron melons Is each; turnips lid per bundle; parsnips lid per bundle; carrots 2d; marrows 3d and 6d, quinces id per lb; pumpkins 3s to 7s doz; lemons 4s doz; apples l>d to 2d; potatoes Id per lb. There is a great scarcity of potatoes in the market.

Messrs Samson Bros., auctioneers, report the following prices at their sale on Saturday:—Poultry: Young roosters Is 9d to Is lOd, pullets 2s 3d to 2s 6d, ducks 2s 3d. Produce: Eggs 2s 9d per doz, potatoes 10s cwt, onions ljd lb, kumeras 2d per lb, lemons 2s 6d dozen, honey 4d per lb, bacon lOd per lb, carrots *3s per bag, Swede turnips2s per bag, pie melons Is each. The market still remains firm for all kinds of vegetables...

Messrs Murary, Roberts and Co. record a substantial increase in the quantity of wool offered in the New Zealand public sales as compared with last year. North Island- shows an increase of 26,988 bales, and the South Island 14,352 hales; the total increase for both Islands being 41,340 bales. The total quantity of wool actually disposed or was 278,950 bales, and shows an increase of 45.164 bales as compared ivith last season. There were 32,000 bales sold privately; it is estimated that the North Island contributed 20,000 bales and the South Island 12,000 bales.
