Air. W r . H. Renner, Chief Postmaster. leaves by coach this morning for the Coast on effiical business.
Mr. N. Kettle, managing director of Alcssrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., returns to Napier by the Takapuna this evening.
Air I-I. D. deLautour leaves Gisborne this week on an extended world’s tour.
Judge Jones leaves for W’airoa by coach this, morning to resume the sitting of the Native Land Court, which ■was* interrupted on account of his Honor having to return to Gisborne to preside over the sitting of the Tairawhiti Aiaori Land Board last week.
On Thursday afternoon the- residents of Whatatutu met in the hall to bid farewell to Aliss Baker, who is leaving the district to take up Native school work in the Bay of Plenty. Miss Baker has been in charge of the Whatatutu school for some years. After tea was dispensed, Aliss Baker was presented with a handsome dressing ease, and the children gave to their departing teacher a silver jewel -casket.
