CASE NEAR NELSON

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELECU.VMI NELSON, May 22. On the 7tli hist a cottage at Stoke owned by William Best, and occupied by a young man named Herbert Whitford,"was destroyed by fire. The building was not insured, but Whitford had a policy in the United office on his effects.* £4O on the furniture, etc., and £35 on a motor bicycle destroyed. The circumstances of the fire considered to yvarrant an inquiry, which wti.s. concluded to-day, yvbjen the Coroner found a verdict that tho cottage had been wilfully set oil fire by Whitford. Wliitford was arrested on a. charge of arson and remanded until Friday, bail being allowed.
