QUADRUPLETS REARED.
FAMILY OF FOUR GIRLS SURVIVE. It is reported that a batch of four infants born to one mother have been successfully reared in America. On August 5, 1912, at the Dorchester Cottage Hospital, U.S.A., a woman was delivered of four female infants. They scaled about 141 b ; the first weighed nearly 41b,. the second nearly 31b., the third' just over 31b., and the last one 41b. It is recorded that the first two strongly resembled each other and that the second pair did the same; but apparently there was no strong resemblance between the first pair and the second. The incubator at the hospital would accommodate only three infants; each baby in turn had to spend l a regular period on a bed, carefully wrapepd up and kept warm. A nurse was procured to help the mother. Laten on. as the babies grew stronger, says “The Nursing Mirror,.’ they Were able to take from a bottle; and at a month or so they were able to take nourishment naturally, > A second nurse had then to be engaged: .
At four months old all the quadruplets were thriving. Virginia then weighed 81b lloz, Eleanor 61b lloz., Barbara 71b 20z., and Louise 81b 7oz.
