[UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.]
(Received June 11. 11.40 p.mA OTTAWA, June 11
Mr Bourassa, speaking at Edmonton, said that if Canadians supported Mr Borden's contention that Canada was hound to contribute to the British Navy because an emergency existed, Canada would- be binding herself to contribute when an emergency or or a supposed emergency arose. I his would be fatal to the building up of a definite national policy. If Canada agreed to representation on the Committee of Imperial Defence her delegate would be useful merely for taking the British Government's commands back to Canada. He warned Canada that she was only hound to provide for her own defence. Such was Mr. Chamberlain’s ideas, and 110 was one of the greatest or I m perialists.
