NUHAKA TOWNSHIP.
INDIVIDUAL OWNERSHIPS DECIDED. PARTITIONED OFF INTO 260 SECTIONS.
Judge Jones, who for the past three weeks has been engaged in Native Land Court business in Wairoa and Nuliaka, returned to Gisborne yesterday.; His Honor had a busy time during his stay in Wairoa, where the definition of relative interests in the Ohuia No. 1 block were confirmed, and the To Reinga. case was reheard, besides a. number of partition and succession cases. During the past- fortnight Judge Jones has been at Xuha'ka. where several small blocks were partitioned, and tli? township of Nuliaka laid out in 260 sections. The Natives were very pleased at the completion of this latter work, and before the Court •resumed on Friday afternoon, the school children, headed bv the school band, were march d on to the marae, where speeches wore delivered by.the leading Natives expressing their satisfaction. It is now hoped that since the indi-* vidual owners of the township have been ascertained an impetus will be given to the advancement of Nuliaka. The township itself has been laid out since 1907, but it is only now that theowners have been settled in their respective portions.
