MATAWAI

[FBOM OBE OWN COREESrOXDENTI

MATAWAI, July 7. The Post Office.—On Friday evening last a large and representative meeting of residents was held in the Public Hall to consider the question ofi having the Post Office at the railway station, or on a more central site opposite Neal’s store, presented! by Mr Mortiman to the postal authorities. A resolution moved by Mr Loane, and seconded by Mr I. McKenzie, was carried almost unanimously, that the site presented by. Mr Mortiman was the most convenient and desirable one. A petition in support is being largely signed and will be forwarded to the Postmaster-Gen-eral through Mr-MacDonald, M.P. The meeting was ably presided over by Mr Fleming. A' Dangerous Road.—l would draw the attention of the County Council to the dangerous state of the road between the bridge and the hall. . A railing is badly needed on one wing of the bridge, as it is most dangerous to the children attending school ;also to travellers at night. A child fell over last week, but fortunately not at the t .steepest part. Tho cost will be only a few pounds and the result will bera boon to the residents.
