BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. There was a fair attendance of howlers yesterday eager to take advantage of the last few days to indulge in their favorite pastime. The green will be closed on Saturday next, and will be then ill the hands of the caretaker for repairs. Following are the results:—Hooper, R. G. Crawford, Craig (s) 19 beat J. F. Bet-tie, Bullock, Pcusford (s) 17; Mitchell, Eure, R. Robertson 19 beat D. G- Robertson, Hcnnesey. W. Bettie 13; Leslie, Harris, Kyme (s) 23 beat O’Meara, Witty, T. A. Crawford 18. TURANGANUI GREEN. The final pairs matcli in Watson and Co.’s silver-mounted bowls was played on Turanganui Bowling Club’s green yesterday afternoon, under most favorable circumstances, between J. J. Martin and Simeon. The game was an even one throughout. The pairs were in good form, and each, head was keenly contested, and some good bowling was witnessed by the skips and their leads. On the 18th head, when the scores read 17 all, Simson, m endeavoring to remove bis opponent’s second lying bowl, failed in the attempt, and carried the kitty, with the result that Martin got 3. On the next head Martin again scored three points, and the game then ended in Martin’s favor by six points. Messrs. J. J. Martin aiid Flavell are to be congratulated on winning the valuable trophies that have drawn forth many enjoyablei and keenly-contested games. The following are the results: —Flavell and J. J. Martin (skip) 23 beat Robertson (sub.) and Simson (skip) 17. Other games.—B. Howard and W. Howard (skip) 23 .beat Dudfield and Arnold (skip) 13; Matthewson and Thelwall (skip) 21 beat Jeune and Bruce (skip) 15.
