AYE ISLINGTON, J aVMo. The statement made by during his speech in the’ present debate to the effect that the present Government attained office as a result of an arrangement with Hon. T. Alarkenzie (late Prime Alinister and now High Commissioner) was referred to by the Prime Alinister this evening. Air Massey declared emphatically that there was no bargaining such as suggested. Air AYitty: One of your own men said so. Air Alassey: I know nothing a tout it. Air Alackcnzio was never approached by anyone on cur side of the House, and he never approached us. That. I should say. is only fair to an absent man and a member of the opposite side of the House. , Air AYitty : No, a member of your side, you mean. Mr Alassey repeated that nothing in the way of bargaining took place. There was no mention of the appointment of Air Alackenzie as High Commissioner prior to the division taking place in the House.
