BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. COMMITTEE MEETING. The first committee meeting for the season 1912-14 was held in the Masonic Hotel" last evening. Mr Pettie (President) occupied the chair, and congratulated the old members oh their re-election, and also welcomed the new member, Mr Zachariah. The sub-committees for the season were elected as follows: Ground, Messrs. Corson, T. A. Crawford; Match, whole of General Committee; Works, Messrs L. T. Brown and J. S. Allan; Library, Messrs Hennessy and Zachariah; Handicapners, Messrs Smith and Brown; the President exofficio to all committees. It was resolved to inaugurate a series of card parties and musical evenings, to be held monthly in August, September, October and November, the first to be held in the Pavilion on Wednesday, August 27th, and Turanganui and visiting bowlers to be invited. Eight new members were proposed for membership. The Committee meeting nights were fixed or second and fourth Wednesdays in each month. An innovation in the matter of choosing teams on Thursdays and Saturdays was decided upon. All complete eights at 2 o’clock commence play. They are liable to slight adjustment by a committee of two members appointed for each day. After 2 o’clock members will arrange their own teams. All players will be handicapped at the commencement of the season, and handicaps will be placed on the notice board.
