Mr J. R. Kirk leaves for Auckland on legal, business by this morning’s steamer, and will return to Gisborne on- Wednesday.
Mr A. Williamson, Borough mechanical engineer, has forwarded his resignation to the Borough Council. Mr Williamson, who has been in the employ of the Council for over three years, intends leaving for Wellington shortly.
A P.A. message from Wanganui states that a very old resident of Wanganui, the wife of Mr Gilbert Carson,. passed: away, yesterday morning at the age of 77 years. The deceased lady came out in one of the four vessels which brought settlers to Albert Land. She was married in 1866 at Auckland; thence going to Wellington. In 1874 the family came to \\ anganui. •
