GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.
MEETING LAST EVENING. The weekly meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held in the boathouse last evening, there being present Messrs D. Cowan (Captain) in the chair, D. Faram( A. G. Gerrard, I. J. Quigley, R. J. Pycroft and D. Hutton, hon. secretary. Intimation was received that the two new pleasure boats were finished and will probably arrive from Auckland this week. These are specially built light boats and should prove a great acquisition to the Club’s plant. 11. W. Fitt was elected an active member. Intending members are requested to forward their nominations without delay as the season will be open very shortly, entries for the first series of fours closing on 19th inst. Members were classified into A. and B. Grades, and a list of strokes for practice crews was posted in the Club House.
Every endeavor is being made to get the boats into the water by 12th inst. and the assistance of all members is required to get the plant ready by that date. Working .bees have attended the shed each night from 5 till 6 and good progress has been made. Good l enthusiasm has been evidenced, which points to a successful season. It was decided 1 to allot Mr Charlie Adair’s trophies for the first A. Grade Fours and Messrs Nieholls and Griffiths’ for the B. Grade Fours, training to commend? after the 19th inst.
