MAINTENANCE DAY.
CASES OF DOMESTIC INFELICITY
Yesterday was “maintenance day” at Court aiid several cases as indicated came before Mr W. A. Barton, S.M. , , In one case, a wife applied/ for separation on the grounds of persistent cruelty, Mr J. R. Kirk appearing for the informant and Mr T. A. Coleman for the defendant. The ease was dealt with in Chambers, and an order made for the maintenance of the children and complainant. A further case of wife against misband was adjourned for four weeks by arrangement. Bridget Scott (Mr J. R. Kirk) applied for a separation, order and maintenance from her husband, John Scott. Defendant appeared and said it was owing to his being out of work that he could not maintain his wife at prer sent. When he was in work, he was prepared to maintain her, and would agree to an order on his employer for portion of his wages. On this understanding, claimant being agreeable, the case was adjourned for a month.
