ST. ANDREW’S LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.

CONCLUSION OF THE SEASON. I A most successful session of the above Society was brought to a close last evening; the president (Rev. W. Grant) in the chair. After the meeting was opened the secretary, Mr. F. Auld, presented hi® report, and made a few remarks, respecting the condition of the Society and its possibilities. The report was unanimously -adopted.

The evening was then given over to social enjoyment in the shape of a concert. Some really good items were contributed', and, in addition to the well-known local entertainers, there were some new voices of promise. Songs were rendered by Misses Johnson and Church, Messrs. Jones, Holmes, Graham, Alexander, and McClymont. Mr East gave a flute solo, and Messrs. F. R. Ball and F. Shirley Spilman gave recitations. Miss Hopkins and Mr. Renwick accompanied items respectively. The president, in the course of his address, thanked all for their assistance. In particular he thanked Mr. Bishop, the caretaker, and made him the recipient of a present as a token of appreciation from the executive. Mr. Auld ; the untiring secretary, was the recipient of a hearty vote of thanks. Dr. Porter, in a pleasing speech, made reference to all the office-bear-ers, and asked for a vote of thanks for them. He also wished tho society every success in the future. A visiting gentleman proposed a voto of thanks to those who had asisted in providing entertainment for that evening. The meeting was closed with prayer.
