The police report a tragedy at Woolbrook, near Armidale. \ half-caste named Brown shot his mother-in-law dead. Constable Clark, who was sent to arrest the murderer, was approaching the house when Brown fired several harmless shots. Clark replied, fatally wounding Brown. , Brown was an ex-black tracker. He was armed with a rifle, and Clark, finding his revolver outranged, procured a rifle. The cause of the tragedy is unknown.
