The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows on their stock sale held at Matawhero on Thursday: There was a very small attendance, and competition was poor ; there did not seem to be a demand for any sheep at all. We yarded 3615, and sold 631. Fat' Sheep Fat hoggets 16s 6d; fat ewes fair sorts 18s to 19s Id; shorn ewes 14s: fat wethers 22s Gel. Store Sheep.—Ewes in lamb 17s 6d to 21s 6d; hoggets, mixed sexes, medium sorts 13s to 14s 6d ; mixed hoggets good sorts 15s 6d; an exceptionally good line of heavy woollen hoggets in forward conditon realized 18s; empty ewes 14s. No lines of.wethers were offered. Cattle.—We yarded 183 and sold 108, under dragging conditions. Steer weaners £2 5s to £2 17s 6d; Jersey steers £2 4s to £4 Is; springing heifers £4 15s to £5 17s 6d ; dairy cows £4 to £6. ORMOND HORSE FAIR. Attention is directed by Messrs Williams and Iv&ttle, Ltd., to their entry for the Ormond hor.se fair, which takes place next Monday and Tuesday. Amongst the entries are some splendid lines of spring cart, hack and harness horses (broken and. unbroken). At the same place they will also offer the heavy draught stallion Ettrick shepherd, and a very smart pair of chestnut harness ponies broken to lead.
