ALLEGED CUSTOMS FRAUDS
\ 1 THREE MEN ARRESTED. (PBi«tlS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM! CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 2. This morning Detective Gibson arrested three men, who are charged with'having committed theft by means of Customs frauds. - One man is an officer in the local‘branch of the Customs Department, arid another is a Customs agent in. this city. It i,s stated that the officer certified that large quantities of dutiable goods were free and that the specified duty was charged to the merchants who bought the goods. It is not known yet what sum .is involved, and investigations are still being made in that direction, biit information already available shows that the. .sum is a very large one. Accused will bo brought, before the Magistrate’s Court to-morrow. ' The men arrested arc J. Anderson f Campbell, Customs officer, H. L. Tfreen, Customs agent, and S. J. McCormack, Customb agent. '
