TEN YEARS OF FRAUD
In sentencing a mail named Alfred John Lambert recently t 0 three years’ penal servitude for obtaining money ami credit by false pretences, the Recorder said that in his twentyfour years’ experience he had not seen or heard of a more dangerous man. Letters had hfad written were full of descriptions of how he had been living. “I have lived the life of a blooming fighting cock all the week,” he said. It was clear, observed his Lordsnip, that he had been living like a “blooming - fighting cock” on other people’s money, not for a week, but for ten years. In 1903; trading as A. Lambert and Sons, London Wall, the prisoner became bankrupt. Subsequently lie incurred debts at many boardinghouses and well-known hotels. He obtained .3 loan of £2524 from the Hon. E. Pomeroy, and spent it all. At Folkestone his children were placed at expensive schools, and fees amounting to £694 were not paid. In 1911 he took Augustine Court, Sandwich, at £SO a \v.eek for six weeks, and paid no rent.
