THE CARDINAL’S WILL.
SOME SENSATIONAL REPORTS.
BODY MAY BE EXHUMED
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.] ROME, Dec. '2B. The “Messagero” states that the Court as ordered the exhumation of the body of Cardinal Rarnpolla. There are suspicions that his sudden death may be connected with the disappearance of tho will.
Other reports state that two nuns, when laying out the body, saw the box taken from beneath the pillow, but did not know that it contained the will. Princess Altier’s husband has been confined to a lunatic asylum owing to an allegation that he forged the late Cardinal Rampolla’s signature to bills of exchange. An intimate friend of the Cardinal states that the 1910 will provided for the princess’ children, also a large sum was left to the Pope. It is reported that Cardinal Rampolla’s sister, the Baroness Pezzana, who benefits by the earlier will, was present at the Cardinal’s house on the night he died. (Received Dec. 29, 6.10 p.m.) The newspapers generally ridicule the story of CardinqJ Rampolla’s humation.
The Vatican plainly states that it will not make difficulties if the civil authorities require an inquiry. „
