FIRE OX THE CANASTOTA. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.I AUCKLAND, July 27. The *U.S. and A. Line’s steamer Oanastota arrived from New York via Panama this morning. AVhile at New A r ork at the end of April, a bad fire occurred in the ’tween docks and two forward holds. All the cargo there was destroyed. The hold had to bo completely flooded. The cargo destroyed was for Australian and New Zealand ports, ami included six motor ears. The iron docks were /buckled by the beat and- the beams twisted, and had to be renewed. The vessel was docked for three weeks and a general average of 20 per cent, struck on the lines affected.
