THE WELLINGTON TRAGEDY.
A REMARKABLE AFFAIR. (Press Association Telegram.) WELLING TOX, July 28.; Inquiries regarding the Martin Street tragedy, in which Harry Parslow fatally shot himself after fir ins a shot at Ernest William Collingwood, go to show that the affair was chiefly duo to drink. Mrs Parslow states that, on account of his drinking habits, she had been living apart from her husband for about six months, but ■they had lived together again for the past week or two. during which time lie still continued to drink. The revolver was an old one, which sho had originally purchased for her own protection. ' Collingwood used to take a room from her during the time lie was on leave from Somes Island, where ho was a guard, and yesterday afternoon he and her husband and daughter were talking together for a considerable time. He husband was under the influence of liquor and appeared considerably annoyed that ho was unable to sit on the sofa. Suddenly ho pulled the pistol out of his pocket and, without the slightest warning, fired at Collingwood, who had a. remarkably narrow escape.
