Seroeaut Valentine Blake, of Gisborne/ has been appointed second lieutenant on probation or B Company of the 6tli Reinforcements.
Mr J. P. bavin, representing theNational Cash Register Co., arrived by the Warrimoo yesterday, and is staying at the Gisborne Hotel.
Among the troopers who arrived from Trentham on leave yesterday morning was Sergeant AA . S. Turner, formerly of the Gisborne branch of tho Public Works __ Department. Trooper Turner lost a few days of m fe holiday leave through being field up bv the floods on the Alain Truiik. while proceeding to Auckland.
Mr AY. Howard yesterday received a postcard from Trooper August Palm, of the Maori Contingent, from Malta. The Gisborneite stated that all were well, but they were not too well pleased at being' attached to an English regiment, and keenly wished to join the New Zealanders at the Dardanelles. As one of the Maori Contingent has been reported injured from the Dardanelles, it is apparent that August and his comrades have Inn* their dearest wish gratified.
